So, we've done it gang! My little graphic novel has FINALLY been sent off to the Copyright Office and shipped off with 2 day shipping! Why the rush you ask? Well, I can't print any more books until I can officially add the copyright page to my book--I realized this in the middle of printing my second--official copy. You see, so far I have printed four books, all to varying degrees of faultlessness, I'll show you what I mean later....but oops kind of went on off on a tangent there lets head back to our main point of today's discussion--therefore, I threw my long coat over my glue stricken pajamas, hopped in a cab, and sent off my stuff to the Copyright Office!
The only thing I'm slightly concerned about is the address to which I mailed my book to. You see after registering my work electronically, I received a shipping slip that told me to mail my book to:
U.S. Copyright Office- Materials Control and Analysis Division-VA
101 Independence Avenue SE Washington, DC 20540
But when I was haphazardly trying to confirm the address, just to calm the anxious thoughts, the address I saw on the homepage was a little different:
Library of Congress
Copyright Office-VA
101 Independence Avenue SE
Washington, DC 20559-6000
See my need for concern?
THE WHOLE ZIPCODE IS DIFFERENT!! AND THE ADRESSEE IS DIFFERENT AS WELL!
EGAD!!!
It should get there right? My uber driver assured me that it would. I also didn't opt to have them sign off on it upon receiving it--I didn't want to be extra...But maybe I should have just to be safe?
Ugh....Well, I guess there is nothing I can do about it now. I mean, I did address my packaged book to the address specified below

AND! I do have a receipt, it's supposed to arrive on Monday. I'm good, I'm good. Also, me being the me that I am, you can best believe that I will be checking the status of my copyright application every so often (perhaps every hour on the hour). Hey! Can you blame me, this is my baby. I started working on this project 3 years ago, and so shipping it off today kind of feels like I'm sending my kid off to college....
****I currently do not have any children, but one day I hope to!****
With all that said, I am moving on, this is supposed to be a happy post :) and I am extremely happy. As I told my uber driver today, it really is a series of baby steps that is leading up to a brighter tomorrow. Truly, I don't know what the future holds, or if anyone will want to buy my book, especially since after much discussion with it will be priced at a whopping $40.00. And that's not being negative it's just me being realistic. Nonetheless, I'm working on being optimistic, and now that the copyright aspect is handled, I can start thinking of making Apples, Bananas, and Neurons merchandise to promote and accompany the book!
Until Next Time!
